The 2021 Syrah Estate Blend is just slightly darker than the Grenache and checks in as 80% Syrah, 10% Grenache, 7% Cinsault, and 3% Roussanne that saw 60% whole clusters and 20 months in new and used French and Hungarian oak. Smoky blackberry fruits, violets, ground pepper, bacon fat, and rose petal notes all give this a decidedly Côte Rôtie-like style, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a supple, elegant mouthfeel, lots of tannins, and a gorgeous finish. The 2021 Estate Syrah Blend is composed of 80% Syrah, 10% Grenache, 7% Cinsault and 3% Roussanne from Adam's Ranch Vineyard. The nose shows a youthfully tight and focused mixture of mixed berries, cured meats, tobacco leaves and hints of dried herbs. The palate is opulent and forward, welcomely lined with bright, balancing acidity. This energy transitions to the finish, which is intense and linear, driven by ripe yet juicy fruit flavors and powdery tannins, which should continue to resolve and integrate after a few years in the cellar.
