One of the true blessings of beginning our career at James Berry Vineyard is being able to include this rare wine in our portfolio. This lot of stunning fruit is all fermented together with 50% whole cluster inclusion. The wine was wild fermented and aged in a combination of neutral and New French oak for 20 months.
"The 2017 James Berry Vineyard is a complex, elegant blend of 35% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 26% Mourvèdre, and a whopping 11% Roussanne that was brought up in a new 500-liter barrels and a used 300-liter barrel. Sexy notes of candied cherries, plums, cracked black pepper, and bouquet garni all flow to a medium to full-bodied blend that has a silky, seamless texture, polished tannins, and a beautiful sense of purity and complexity paired with plenty of richness and depth." Readers should note that the James Berry Vineyard wines from Ledge are incredibly rare and are a result of a time-honored relationship with Saxum and the James Berry Vineyard family. Mark Adams of Ledge was the first employee in the cellar at Saxum and while no longer on the payroll, continues to lend a hand during harvest and craft the Ledge wines in the Saxum caves. Adams now spends a lion's share of his time working the estate vineyard at the Adams Ranch.
