2017 LEDGE Adams Ranch $65
2017 Adams Ranch Vineyard
51% Syrah, 46% Grenache, 2% Roussanne, 1% Mourvédre
Paso Robles, Willow Creek AVA
Due to our specific soil types, this ranch is being planted specifically to those only allowed in the Chateauneuf du Pape region of France. This may change over time, but we would like to exhaust these options first, as ours is one of the few Willow Creek AVA sites with sandy loam, clay, terra rosa and rolled, rocky sandstone soils. Our design for the future is to focus mainly on two, field blended wines, one red and one white. Ultimately a red wine of Syrah, Grenache, Cinsaut, Counoise and Roussanne and a white wines of Roussanne, Clairette and Grenache Blanc.
The 2017 Adams Ranch Vineyard is the result of two separate picks. The Syrah and the Roussanne were cofermented (largely whole cluster), seperately from the Grenache and the Mourvédre. This is the second year we included fruit from our Roussanne vines, adding floral aromatics and additional structure.
This wine was wild fermented and racked once before bottling, spending a majority of it's time on gross lees. It was aged for 20 months in mostly neutral oak, with about 25% new French oak in the mix.
