2016 LEDGE Dante Dusi Vineyard
2016 Dante Dusi Vineyard Zinfandel
Paso Robles, Templeton Gap District
93 Pts. Wine Enthusiast 93 Pts Vinous
In the 1920’s Dante Dusi planted this vineyard with an unknown Zinfandel clone, on it’s own roots. The vineyard is in the heart of the Templeton Gap District, just South of Paso Robles near Templeton. The fruit is 50% whole cluster fermented, giving the wine a freshness and linear quality not common in Paso Robles Zinfandels. It was fermented wild and aged in 400 liter used French oak vessels for 18 months.
"Deep lurid violet. Intense cherry and boysenberry aromas are complemented by notes of cola and candied flowers. Allspice and star anise notes emerge with air and carry onto the palate, adding complexity to sweet red and blue fruit flavors that show excellent clarity and spicy lift. Shows strong, fruity thrust on the youthfully tannic finish, which echoes the spicy notes." -Josh Raynolds, Vinous
