One of the true blessings of beginning our career at James Berry Vineyard is being able to include this wine in our portfolio. This lot of stunning fruit is all fermented together with 25-50% whole cluster inclusion. The wine was wild fermented and aged in a combination of neutral Hungarian oak and New French oak for 18 months.

We first planted the Estate Vineyard in 2005, one of the few Willow Creek AVA sites with sandy loam, clay, terra rosa and rocky sandstone soils. As a result the wine has a distinctive, almost coastal nuance. Many have compared this wine to a Saint Joseph wine, with prominent notes of rasberry and white pepper. This is a coferment (the different varietals were fermented together) and the Syrah included 50% whole bunch fermentation. This is the first year we included fruit from our Roussanne vines, adding floral aromatics and additional structure.
This wine was wild fermented and never racked, spending 20 months on gross lees in once used French oak.
This Grenache is farmed on a beautiful south facing slope at the Rolph Family Vineyard, which Neighbors Halter Ranch in the Adelaida District. It was destemmed into a stainless steel tank, where it cold soaked for a few days until the onset of wild fermentation. The juice was pumped over the skins directly and via delestage, ultimately punching down, pressing and barreling down once dry. The wine went dry in tank (primary fermentation) and went through malolcatic fermentation in barrel in February 2017. Both fermentations were wild.
The barrels used were once used Atelier and Ermitage Barrels.
Prices Range from $50-$500
Coming from the Adams Ranch, James Berry Vineyard, G2 Vineyard, Adelaida Vineyard and Rolph Family Vineyard, this is the only wine in the Ledge lineup that is a blend of vineyards. It consists of Zinfandel (30%), Petite Sirah (25%), Syrah (15%), Tannat (15%) and Cinsaut (15%). It was partially whole bunch and partially destemmed into stainless tanks and 2 ton poly fermenters. They cold soaked for a few days until the onset of wild fermentation. The juice was pumped over the skins directly and via delestage, ultimately punching down, pressing and barreling down once dry. The wine went dry in tank (primary fermentation) and went through malolcatic fermentation in barrel in March 2017. Both fermentations were wild.
The barrels used were new and used Rousseau, Meyrieux, Taransaud and Ermitage barrels, most of which were 400 liter vessels.

"This is one of the handful of world-class pink wines that I tried this year, and I'd put it up against pretty much any 2017 rosé from France for sheer vibrancy, balance and delineation."
-- Josh Raynolds
Picked for the purpose of rosé on October 21st 2017, this block is almost entirely Counoise with a few stray Cinsaut clones peppered in. It is in the heart of the James Berry Vineyard on clay loam and limestone soils. This is a visually stunning coral colored wine with breathtaking floral aromatics of peach blossom and watermelon that delivers a kindred flavor of stone fruit, sweet melon and honeysuckle. The finish is extraordinarily long with beautifully integrated aspects of fruit, melon, refined acidity and flower nectar
100% Grenache Blanc from the G2 Vineyard in the Paso Robles Willow Creek AVA.
The G2 Vineyard is the sister vineyard to Bill Gibbs' Heart Stone Vineyard in the Paso Robles Willow Creek District with steep limestone vineyards and panoramic westside views. This beautifully refreshing Grenache Blanc was slowly whole cluster pressed into a stainless steel tank, cold fermented with native yeast and bottled after 6 months in the same stainless vessel. It shows subtle melon, mineral and citrus notes with great acidity and a vibrant, clean finish.
